Delta and Airbnb have just announced a partnership that allows you to earn Delta miles for your Airbnb stays. Regardless of your current Airbnb status, you can begin earning 1 mile/$ for all of your Airbnb stays. The partnership also includes some extra incentives for those who haven’t yet opened an Airbnb account or who are willing to become Airbnb hosts.
If you’ve been on the fence about becoming an Airbnb host, this offer may be the final push you need to decide that you should. Through this partnership with Delta, SkyMiles members who become new Airbnb hosts can earn up to 25,000 miles. With one-way flights starting at 10,000 miles within the continental United States, this is more than enough for a round-trip flight!
How It Works
For New Airbnb Users
You can earn up to 1,000 bonus miles (on top of the 1 mile/$ you’ll normally receive through the promotion), and you’ll also receive a $25 discount on your qualifying first stay. Follow these steps to take full advantage of this promotion.
- Sign up for an Airbnb account through Delta’s Airbnb portal (important: do not sign up through Airbnb.com, as you need to enter your Delta SkyMiles number as the first step in registration to receive your $25 coupon).
- Book your first Airbnb stay. This stay must cost a minimum of $75 to be eligible for your $25 discount code (which you received when you signed up through the Delta Airbnb portal).
- Earn miles as follows: 500 bonus miles for your first stay if it cost $75 or more, or 1,000 bonus miles for your first stay if it cost $150 or more, plus 1 mile per dollar you spent on the stay. A stay of $175 would, for example, earn you 1,175 miles: 1,000 for the new user bonus and 175 for the cost of the stay itself.
For Existing Airbnb Users
You’ll receive 1 mile per dollar you spend on Airbnb stays booked through Delta’s Airbnb portal. Just enter your Delta SkyMiles number when prompted at that portal, book your Airbnb stay, and earn miles!
For Prospective Airbnb Hosts
You can earn up to 25,000 miles by becoming an Airbnb host — enough for a round-trip flight within the continental US! (If you stay at an Airbnb on the trip you book with those miles, remember to do so through DeltaAirbnb.com to earn miles for your stay, as well.)
- Visit Delta’s Airbnb portal to begin the process of becoming a host. You’ll need to enter your SkyMiles number here to qualify for the promotion and bonus miles.
- Follow Airbnb’s steps to become a host. For example, you’ll need to verify your identity, upload pictures and a description of the space you’re offering, and so on.
- Receive bonus miles when you reach earnings thresholds as follows. These bonuses are cumulative, so if you reach $2,500 in earnings, you’ll receive 25,000 miles.
- 2,500 bonus miles after you’ve earned $250.
- 7,500 bonus miles after you’ve earned a total of $1,000.
- 15,000 bonus miles after you’ve earned a total of $2,500.
What’s the Catch?
Luckily for Airbnb users, there isn’t much of a catch here. Even if you aren’t a regular Delta flyer, you might as well earn SkyMiles for stays you would have made anyway. You never know if they may come in handy in the future. There are a few facts you should keep in mind when earning your Delta miles through Airbnb, though:
- This offer only works for Airbnb stays booked through DeltaAirbnb.com, so you need to be careful to remember not to book directly through Airbnb.com.
- Taxes and fees do not count toward your qualifying spending (for Airbnb travelers) or your qualifying earnings (for new Airbnb hosts).
- For new hosts, the deadline for earning bonus miles is October 31, 2017. To receive your full 25,000 bonus miles, make sure you reach $2,500 in Airbnb earnings before then.

This is very helpful, though I wish I knew about this before I made an airbnb reservation a few weeks ago
Great to see more mileage earning opportunities.
Sounds good but I never remember to book through the Delta site.
Just booked a bunch of AirBnb’s. No credit issued unless you book through Delta. So don’t use the AirBnb or mobile site. Be careful
Is there any sign up bonus for existing Airbnb user?
There is not.
Another great way to Earn SkyPesos
This is great! I know AirBnb has also partnered with Acorns, an app that invests your change. So every time you book on AirBnb, they will add an additional bonus to your account, so you can really get great value if you book through AirBnb. Even better, Bank of America cards sometimes run an AirBnb promotion too, where you can get up to 5% directly deposited back into your bank account if you book a room. Looks like you can basically cover the cost of the fees with all these promotions.
This is great. Use a card to earn points and it’s a double win! I’ve had some great experiences using Airbnb.
Personally, I prefer other programs.
Only Delta has a partnership with Airbnb?
Quantas and Virgin America also have partnerships as well: http://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-trip/hotels-and-airbnb/earn-points-airbnb.html and https://www.virginamerica.com/cms/elevate-frequent-flyer/partners/hotel-partners/airbnb-booking
How I hate this promos that forget that existing users were new users some time ago. ?
