Citi just launched a 20% transfer bonus for ThankYou® Point transfers to Flying Blue — the loyalty program of Air France, KLM, and a few other smaller airlines. The promotion runs through August 22, 2026.
The bonus effectively reduces the cost of Flying Blue awards by roughly 17%. For example, standard Flying Blue business-class awards between North America and Europe start at 60,000 miles — meaning you can transfer just 50,000 Citi ThankYou® Points during this promotion to book that award.
Even better, you can stack this transfer bonus with Flying Blue Promo Rewards to book for even fewer points. You only need to transfer 38k Citi points to Flying Blue to book a discounted business class award to Europe.
However, not every Citi card offers the same transfer ratio. Here’s what you need to know before transferring.

Flying Blue 20% Transfer Bonus Key Terms
- Transfer Citi points to Flying Blue and receive a 20% transfer bonus.
- Promotion dates: This offer is available now through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on August 22, 2026.
- Minimum transfer: Must transfer a minimum of 1,000 points
- Transfer time: ThankYou® Point transfers to Flying Blue typically process instantly.
- Transfer ratio: The transfer ratio depends on which Citi card you have:
- Get 1,200 Flying Blue miles per 1,000 ThankYou Points transferred with the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card, Citi Strata Premier® Card, Citi Prestige® Card, or AT&T Access More Card from Citi
- Get 840 Flying Blue miles per 1,000 points transferred if you have select no-annual-fee Citi cards.
Here’s a step-by-step guide explaining how to transfer Citi ThankYou® Points to airline and hotel partners.

Is This Flying Blue Transfer Bonus a Good Deal?
Flying Blue can offer excellent value despite using dynamic award pricing and often adding meaningful taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges to award tickets. The program has several valuable Flying Blue sweet spots, and this 20% bonus makes those awards more affordable.
However, the deal is considerably more attractive for cardholders eligible for the standard 1:1 transfer ratio. We're using this transfer ratio in the examples below.
North America to Europe in business class
Flying Blue business-class awards between North America and Europe start at 60,000 miles each way. Since Flying Blue prices awards dynamically, finding seats at this starting rate can require flexibility with travel dates and departure cities.

During this 20% transfer bonus, travelers eligible for 1:1 transfers need just 50,000 Citi ThankYou® Points to generate the required 60,000 Flying Blue miles.

The math is much less favorable for Citi cards with the lower transfer ratio. At 840 Flying Blue miles per 1,000 ThankYou® Points, generating at least 60,000 miles would require transferring 72,000 points — assuming transfers must be made in 1,000-point increments.
Economy awards between North America and Europe
Flying Blue economy awards between North America and Europe start at 25,000 miles each way. With the 20% bonus, eligible 1:1 cardholders can transfer 21,000 ThankYou® Points to receive 25,200 Flying Blue miles.
Award prices can climb well above this starting rate on popular dates, so confirm availability and pricing before transferring points.
Flying Blue Promo Rewards
Flying Blue Promo Rewards offer discounted award pricing between select destinations and Europe. The eligible cities and travel dates change monthly, and the discounts sometimes include destinations in North America.
When the routes line up with your plans, you can stack a Promo Rewards discount with Citi’s 20% transfer bonus. That can reduce the number of ThankYou® Points required even further.
This month, you can book business class awards between New York (JFK) and Europe for just 45,000 Flying Blue miles. During this 20% transfer bonus, you can transfer just 38,000 Citi ThankYou points to book this award!

Or you can fly between several U.S. cities and Europe for 18,750 Flying Blue miles. Factoring in the 20% transfer bonus – and the 1,000-point transfer increments — you can transfer just 16,000 ThankYou points to have enough to book this award:

Because Flying Blue transfers are irreversible, search for available award space and confirm the mileage price, taxes, and surcharges before moving any points.
Best Ways to Earn Citi ThankYou® Points
Citi ThankYou® Points are useful because eligible cardholders can transfer them to several airline and hotel loyalty programs. Citi also offers a strong combination of cards for earning points across common spending categories.
The Citi Strata Premier® Card (Rates & Fees) earns 10X points per $1 on hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked through CitiTravel.com; 3X points per $1 spent on air travel and other hotel purchases; and 3X points at gas stations, EV charging stations, restaurants, and supermarkets. New cardholders also can earn 60,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening, redeemable for $600 in gift cards or travel rewards at thankyou.com.
Cardholders can pair the Citi Strata Premier with the Citi Double Cash® Card (Rates & Fees) and convert the cash back earned with the Citi Double Cash into transferable ThankYou® Points.
However, the Citi Double Cash receives the lower Flying Blue transfer ratio when used by itself. To access the more favorable transfer ratio, you’ll generally need to combine the rewards with an eligible premium ThankYou® Points account before transferring.

Flying Blue Expiration Policy
Flying Blue simplified its mileage expiration policy in 2026. Miles generally remain valid for 24 months, and Flying Blue now assigns one expiration date to a member’s entire mileage balance.
For miles earned beginning May 4, 2026, qualifying flight or commercial activity can extend the validity of the entire balance for another 24 months. Commercial activities can include earning miles with participating non-airline partners.
This is a substantial improvement over Flying Blue’s previous policy, under which some miles could only be extended through qualifying flight activity.
Even with the more flexible policy, you shouldn’t transfer Citi ThankYou® Points speculatively. Transfers cannot be reversed, Flying Blue uses dynamic award pricing, and available awards can disappear before you complete a booking.
You also can add your Flying Blue account to AwardWallet to track your balance and expiration date.
Past Citi ThankYou® Point Transfer Bonuses
Citi transfer bonuses historically were less common than bonuses from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One, or Chase Ultimate Rewards. However, Citi has offered them much more frequently in recent years.
Here’s our complete history of Citi ThankYou® Point transfer bonuses, along with any Citi bonuses currently available:
Bottom Line
Citi cardholders can receive 20% bonus Flying Blue miles on transfers completed by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on August 22, 2026.
The strongest version of the deal applies to Citi Strata Elite, Citi Strata Premier, Citi Prestige, and AT&T Access More cardholders. These travelers can transfer 50,000 ThankYou® Points to receive the 60,000 Flying Blue miles needed for a one-way business-class award between North America and Europe at the program’s starting price.
Other eligible Citi cards receive only 840 miles per 1,000 points after the bonus. If you have one of those cards, check whether you can combine your rewards with an eligible premium ThankYou® Points account before transferring.
As always, confirm award availability and pricing before initiating a transfer. Flying Blue award prices are dynamic, and transfers cannot be reversed.

If you transfer Citi Points before July 19th for 20% transfer bonus is there a deadline of when you need to travel by?
Nope! The only deadline is to make sure to use those miles before they expire (in a few years, without qualifying activity).
Just flew a round trip from US to CDG in J class….what happened to Air France ? The soft product is terrible!
The food options were ordinary. Their drink options matched the food options. The breakfast on the US to CDG flight was worse than economy class. Last time when i flew LH even they were better. They could not serve a decent cup of coffee. There are no warm snacks. Even United provides a cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Even the wine served on a French airline in J were awful. And only two choice of reds. There are multiple airlines that can run cirlces around the Air France offerings. And AF is supposed to be better of the AF-KLM duo.
At this point i would use my miles somewhere else. This is a bottom 3 airline in the Us-Europe sector.
Excellent!!!
Excellent idea for traveling !!!
Excellent!
Why can’t we get this same transfer bonus from chase?
Ha! Just booked my son tickets to Israel yesterday on Flying Blue (used the Chase 25% hard coded bonus). Hard to find economy one way for 53K from NYC let along business RT.
