LifeMiles Award Sale Eligible Routes
Avianca generally runs an award sale each month (or sometimes multiple in one month). However, there seems to be more route options than normal. There are also routes between non-U.S. cities available, which is great if you want to extend your vacation by visiting a new city.
To give you an idea of what's out there, here are some of the advertised “starting at” one-way prices for non-cardholders. Promotional mileage shown as a reference for basic economy/light tickets:
- Washington (IAD) to Curaçao (CUR) from 7,790 LifeMiles
- New York (JFK) to Mexico City (MEX) from 6,600 LifeMiles
- Miami (MIA) to Buenos Aires (EZE) from 9,990 LifeMiles
- Orlando (MCO) to Bogota (BOG) from 5,350 LifeMiles
- San Francisco (SFO) to San Salvador (SAL) from 7,780 LifeMiles
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Cali (CLO) from 7,080 LifeMiles
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Medellin (MDE) from 6,430 LifeMiles
- Chicago (ORD) to Guatemala City (GUA) from 4,450 LifeMiles
- Dallas (DFW) to San Pedro Sula (SAP) from 4,470 LifeMiles
Business class awards are also discounted. Here's an idea of how much you'll spend:
- New York (JFK) to Cuzco (CUZ) from 43,210 LifeMiles
- Boston (BOS) to Lima (LIM) from 23,960 LifeMiles
- Dallas (DFW) to Quito (UIO) from 19,470 LifeMiles
- Tampa (TPA) to Panama City (PTY) from 16,790 LifeMiles
- Houston (IAH) to Guatemala City (GUA) from 25,160 LifeMiles
- Las Vegas (LAS) to Bogota (BOG) from 19,440 LifeMiles
While some of these fares might seem too good to be true, certain routes are operated by an Airbus A320, which is a smaller, single-aisle aircraft. While more comfortable than economy, don't expect a lie-flat seat.
There's also one non-LATAM route on sale: Orlando (MCO) to Madrid (MAD). Fly from 35,890 LifeMiles in economy or 67,630 LifeMiles in business.
How to book a discounted Avianca award flight
To book, visit the Avianca LifeMiles landing page, log in, and enter your search parameters. At first glance, availability looks fantastic, but the “sale” marker doesn't align with available flights 100% of the time.
Thus, finding a date bookable at advertised rates will require a fair amount of patience. Look for the red line under a date to see availability for sale prices. And note that this promotion has a blackout window from March 29 to April 5, meaning you won't see a sale price when searching for those dates.

But if you're patient, you can find routes for the cheapest advertised price. Or, even cheaper if you can take advantage of the Club LifeMiles / LifeMiles+ discount.

Assuming you can find a discounted route, you might think the pricing is too good to pass up. However, ensure you compare the three economy fare options. For a variable number of miles, you can add extra perks like carry-on and checked bags, seat selection, and more.

Ultimately, the dirt-cheap rate might be one you'll want to avoid — especially if you plan on bringing bags with you or value check-in at the airport. Otherwise, you'll pay out of pocket for these ancillary costs. Luckily, the fares that include bags and seats are also on sale.
While these award rates sound incredible, check the math to make sure you're getting a good deal. In the case of the example above, you could redeem 8,990 LifeMiles and pay $34.00 out of pocket for a one-way flight between Miami (MIA) and Buenos Aires (EZE) with a layover in Bogota (BOG).
Alternatively, you could purchase a paid fare on that same flight for $340.50. In this case, you're getting a value of 3.41 cents per LifeMile from this discounted award. This is even better than the 2.85¢ cents per mile average that AwardWallet users typically get from Avianca LifeMiles.
Boosting Your Avianca LifeMiles Balance
One of the best aspects of Avianca's program is that LifeMiles are incredibly easy to earn. Avianca partners with several credit card rewards programs, so you can transfer a small sum of bank points to book these awards. Given the short booking window, you'll want to make your transfer soon if this is a promotion you'd like to take advantage of.

Our Take
Through February 28, 2026, you can book an Avianca LifeMiles award on sale, which is fantastic if you can find a bookable itinerary that fits your schedule and gives you a good redemption rate.
But before you book anything, make sure the inclusions in your fare are suitable. The cheap rates are intriguing, but they may not permit anything more than one personal item. And remember to consider how fixed your travel plans are due to Avianca's stiff change and cancellation policies.
