This Alaska Miles Purchase promotion has ended, however, you can still purchase Alaska miles.
Alaska MileagePlan is offering a bonus from 20-50% on purchased miles through December 21, 2018. If you take advantage of the best rate by purchasing more than 40,000 miles, the price comes out to 1.97 cents per mile. There have been some reports that this promotion may be offering slightly different terms to targeted accounts, so it's worth a quick look at your Alaska account to check your offer. 50% is generally the highest bonus we see for Alaska buy-miles promotions.
- The bonus is valid on purchases through December 21, 2018
- You can purchase up to 60,000 miles per transaction
- There is no limit on the number of miles you can purchase or transactions you can complete
The offer is divided into three tiers:
- 10,000-19,000 miles — earn a 20% bonus
- 20,000-39,000 miles — earn a 35% bonus
- 40,000-60,000 miles — earn a 50% bonus
Alaska miles purchases are processed by points.com, so you won't earn extra points by using a rewards card with a bonus category for travel. The best strategy is to use one of the top cards for everyday spend.
In most cases, it doesn't make sense to buy miles unless you have a specific redemption in mind. Alaska MileagePlan is a transfer partner of Marriott Rewards, so you might consider a combination of purchasing and transferring miles to reach the Alaska balance you need for your next trip.
