About a week ago, American Express announced changes to the Personal Amex Platinum starting at the end of March 2017. Amex seems to be changing the benefits to its Platinum line of cards, with new changes being announced to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (Terms Apply).

The Changes as of March 30, 2017

The following changes will apply to the Business Platinum Card starting March 30, 2017:

  • 5X points per dollar on airfare and prepaid hotel bookings with AmexTravel.com, unlike the Personal Platinum card, the 5X bonus does not apply to bookings made directly with the airline. This benefit is extended to all additional cardholders on the account — the points are deposited in the primary cardholders Membership Rewards account.
  • The Priority Pass membership will include up to two complimentary guests on all lounge visits effective March 30, 2017.

Overall

Not surprisingly, Amex is overhauling its Business as well as Personal versions of their Platinum Cards. While some of the perks have not made it over yet, such as the $200 Uber credit and metal card, they probably won’t make it over unless the annual fee is hiked as well. Either way, it’s going to be a few exciting weeks as Amex prepares to launch the new versions of these cards.
