The IHG PointBreaks quarterly promotion is back, for stays between October 30, 2017, and January 31, 2018. Stays at PointBreaks properties will set you back 5,000 points per night, which can be a huge saving on the more expensive properties which could set you back more than 50,000 points per night. You will have to book quickly since availability at the best properties tends to get snapped up pretty quickly.

Maximizing the Promotion and Earning IHG Points
You can maximize your earnings and the value of this promotion by using the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card. Cardholders receive an automatic 10% rebate on points redemptions (up to 100k/year), which means you will end up with a net cost of 4,500 points per night. Currently, the card has 60,000-point signup bonus; enough for 12 nights using the PointBreaks promotion.
The card comes with complimentary Platinum Elite status with IHG Rewards Club, as well as a host of other benefits. Even without the promotion, IHG does have some excellent sweet spots for award redemptions that are well worth having a look at.
Our Take
The IHG PointBreaks is one of the most valuable promotions out there; while it does not include properties that would be part of an aspirational redemption, it does, however, include properties that are a fantastic value. This quarter’s promo is a little limited in scope, especially outside the US. Which is not surprising since the period does cover one of the main holiday seasons across the world. One thing to remember is that the number of rooms at each hotel during the promotion is limited, and the best ones get snapped up pretty quickly. So, if you see something you like, then hurry and book ASAP.

Nothing of real interest in this Pointsbreak list.. been like this for the past few lists.. hopefully next list will be better.
The U.S. property list just gets slimmer and slimmer since the time I first started tracking these.
Quite a limited selection of IHG PointBreaks properties. But maybe I will stay in one of them.
The price for IHG property promo is amazing. However, none of the properties in this session suitable for me.
Always love seeing this list!
This is a great promo and glad to see it continue but no properties work for me this time around.
pity that for this round, choices for Asian based travellers not too attractive
I hope there will be destinations I’m interested in next round of PointBreak.
My brother is planning on staying at an IHG property in Tahiti for his honeymoon. Can anyone comment on their loyalty program?
IHG’s loyalty program, is unimpressive at best. That said, the rewards side of the program is solid. What are you looking to inquire about?
Would it be possible to book a room for someone else – like sister or brother – but not staying there myself? Would they get the same Perks as I would get?
Yes it is possible, but no they would not officially get your benefits. You’d put the room in their name. Any benefits extended would be a courtesy from the hotel.
I see – thanks for the Explanation!
I have to agree, the IHG program is very unexciting loyalty wise, however, it is not too bad if the interest is only in collecting and redeeming points.
I pretty much concur with this. The points are very easy to come by, but it’s certainly not worth chasing any kind of status.
A big fat zero for me this time round. I could have used San Diego if I hadn’t already grabbed a non-refundable rate downtown.
Thanks for the list. Nothing stands out as a real winner for me this time.
And the good ones are gone
I think IHG reduced the number of participating hotels. There is only one property in Brazil.
It seems quite a limited selection of properties. Unfortunately there is nothing of interest here.
Thanks! unfortunately, no IC this time in pointbreak properties list…
Which properties on this list (which amounts to approximately 2% of all IHG properties) has a standard award redemption price of 50,000 points?
We didn’t look through the list, but rather provided the numbers as an example of the potential savings depending on the properties added.
I don’t think there’s any Property taking 50k Points normally and now discounting to 5k….Or am I mistaken?
I’ve not given a full look at all the properties, so I’m not sure.
Unfortunately nothing that tickles my fancy this time. Looking forward to the new list in 3 months time.
Unfortunately I think you might be disappointed again in the next list. I’ll be happy though to be proved wrong.
I have never been disappointed in any IHG property I have booked. However, none of the properties in this Pointbreaks session attract me.
The HIX in Clarksville, Arkansas is a sweet deal. 🙂
There are no hotels that I want on this list and on previous lists for some time now.
Its not a great list but depending on your travel you can bag a hotel or two . I managed to book one .
I’ve had a few decent deals with point breaks, although this list is not that exciting
Surprisingly bad list for low travel season.
I have always been disappointed by this list!
I like IHG Pointbreaks but this time the list of hotels (destinations) disappointed me.
The fact that these are the highlights show what a really unexciting list it is this time. I suppose though you can’t expect too much for only 5,000 points.
Agreed. Pointbreaks properties have definitely been trending downward in quality, of late.
