IHG to Devalue Over 500 Properties Worldwide

IHG is changing the number of points needed to redeem a free night at nearly 700 of its hotels on January 25, 2019. Although some properties will cost less, nearly 80% of the changes are price increases, so it’s a good time to review your travel plans and see if there are any stays you should book in the next few days.

IHG Rewards Card Going Away?

It looks like the life of the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card may be in question. We can’t find the card directly linked at Chase.com, but a google search does drive to mentions of the card. At the same time, the links we have on the blog here continue to work.

Redeem IHG Points & Certificates for Stays at Kimpton

Realizing IHG’s announcement in late 2017, you can now book Kimpton properties using IHG Rewards. In light of the recent price hike of IHG redemptions, this is good news, since it adds a portfolio of over 60 boutique hotels to the IHG property list, increasing your choice and options. You can also use your IHG Free Night certificates awarded from the IHG Rewards credit card at Kimpton properties.

IHG Adds 70,000-Point Per Night Redemption Reward Level

IHG has brought in 2018 just like it did 2017, with adjustments to its award chart. 2018 adjustments impact hundreds of properties across the world, with most increasing in cost by 5,000 to 10,000 points. In addition to adjusting the rates at properties, the more significant impact is that IHG has added an additional level, increasing the maximum cost per night at some of its properties from 60,000 points per night to 70,000 points per night.

3,000 IHG Points Visiting Tourist Attractions

IHG is running a simple yet lucrative promotion, where you can earn 3,000 IHG points when you spend $50 or more visiting tourist attractions around the US. There are tons of destinations spread across the country; for instance, Chicago alone has 149 participating attractions.
